First Christian Church of Tillamook Statement of Faith

The focus of our faith is not found in a written creed, but in a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ, whom we believe is the Son of the living God.

We are committed to the restoration of New Testament Christianity in all matters of faith and practice, that there might be unity among all Christians, and that the world might know God through Jesus Christ.

We hold the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper (communion) each Sunday as the central part of our worship. At the table, we remember Christ's death on our behalf and recommit ourselves to Him. All Christians are invited to participate, regardless of church affiliation.

We practice the form of baptism as taught and performed in the New Testament; the immersion of a penitent believer in water as an act of obedience, commitment, and affirmation of faith. Baptism unites us with Christ's death, burial and resurrection which it portrays.

We preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We seek to proclaim the Word of God, not politics or personal prejudices. We are congregational in our church government. Looking to the Lord for guidance, we call our own ministers, set our own budgets, hold title to our properties, and govern our own affairs. We are a free church under the headship of Christ.

Mission Statement
First Christian Church of Tillamook is here to proclaim Jesus, enabling people to believe in Him as revealed in the Bible, to belong to His family, the Church, to become more like Him, and to be equipped to serve and reach others--all for the glory of God.
