We need you

An Elders Commentary

One of our Elders, Harry Hewitt puts out a daily email of thoughts and observations. They have touched me and I hope you will find them as thought provoking.

Do you wake up each day, saying to God, "What can I accomplish for you today?" Then you can watch how God will work with you.

We know what pagans do, for we were once one ourselves. It may seem like fun, but it leads to nowhere. Going for the Gold, Go for the Gusto, are all slogans that lead to zilch. All for nothing. But watch as people waste their time pursuing all of those goals in life, which really do not add up to a life at all. How sad. AND if you do not participate, they have a way of mocking you, of making you feel as if you are the odd m an out. They just do not understand. But the lure of that way of life still remains and contend for our souls. Do not be afraid to suffer their abuse, but pray for those that persecute you. Just love them to death.

We know that on Judgment Day, we are all accountable. Hebrews 4:13 says it all. The more you act as a Christian, the more misunderstood you will become. You will be misunderstood. When you forgive as Christ has instructed us, others will bad mouth you. You are Light and the Darkness does not like it at all. Jude 14,15 says they will brought to account. Praise the Lord, our sins have been forgiven. Romans 8:1 There is now therefore, no condemnation for those who are in Christ.

We are to love those we are going to live in eternity with. What a concept. We are practicing this love now for an eternal Heavenly love. Look at that fellow believer with an eternal look. We are laying up treasures in Heaven. Whatever God has given us, we are to share with fellow believers. Be hospitable, share, encourage, lift up, be there for them. This love will cover a multitude of sins. If our intentions are for good, our goofs will be overlooked. If our intentions are for the wrong reason, every word we give will be suspect, misunderstood and questioned. Love wins everytime.

Wake up tomorrow and ask God what He wants you to do. He will show you as you start a great adventure that will change lives and most of all YOU.

Looking Ahead
We have a responsibility to pay attention to what is happening around us and keep our eyes on the one who is true.
We also have the priviledge in this country of having a say in how our country is run. Please don't close your eyes to that responsiblity.

Don't just take the information presented here, on the TV or in the News Media at face value. Dig a little and find out what is really happening. We are not being told the whole story in many places but have to learn the whole story from many places.
